UNDERGROUND TOURIST ROUTE
A masterpiece of underground mining engineering
We start a tour in modern educational centre to spread knowledge on silver, lead and zinc ore mining in Tarnowskie Góry. Here you can learn about metal mining methods and underground drainage methods.
Once the visit to the Mining Museum is over, tourists take helmets, get on a mine elevator and through the Angel mine shaft go down 40.5 m. Here their extraordinary underground journey begins, along corridors inscribed in July 2017 on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The tourist route is 1740 m long and connects three former mine shafts: Angel, Viper and God Bless. Severe underground conditions, characterized by low temperature and high humidity, allow everyone to feel the atmosphere of the miners’ work all those years agofree miners’ hard work, a mine collapse, minecarts on the move and blasting. One of the biggest attractions of the route is the flow of boats. They run between two marinas located at the God Bless and Viper shafts. Traveling with the old drainage tunnel is an unforgettable experience for the guests of the mine.
